Some people say History is one of the most important schools subjects. Other people think that, in today’s world, subjects like science and technology are more important than history.

history
with: history teaches us about our previous mistakes
against: science can be put into much beneficial practical use
It is often argued that scientific classes should have less emphasis than historical subjects in our educational system, whilst others disagree and think that we should be focusing more on modern knowledge and less of past events. On one hand knowing our past teaches us about our previous experiences as humankind. On the other hand, having more scientific knowledge can be put into much beneficial practical use and serve us better. I will show how the second view way more and actually makes a better sense.
It is in fact very useful learn about past incidents and be aware of them. If we really think of them, they can act as guide throughout our lives by showing us our previous attempts and helping us to pick the right decision. These lessons can vary, and we usually use them to avoid dramatic changes to the world. For example, we know exactly the devastating effects of war on our humankind. And if we did not spent enough time in schools learning about that, people may come to be more relaxed about the idea of fighting each other.
However, teaching modern knowledge and advanced technological science more, is actually much better rewarding, it equips the youth with the better tools. Especially that the world is in constant change and what applies in past may not be applicable in the meantime. We can have little historical background focused on big events which would be enough, and be more focused on science. That is actually how we would be able to adapt to the current changes in the world, we would be able to deploy a much wider range of that taught knowledge. I would recall, how my physics class which at that time was about collisions, helped me a lot in understanding a lot of things from around me. To be more specific it in fact made me a better snooker player.
In conclusion, we can see how getting to learn about science should have more importance than history. Even though that history teaches us a lot, yet it does not hold much in front of the amount of better uses of science that we can deploy it in.

Employers sometimes ask people applying for jobs for personal information, such as their hobbies and interests, and whether they are married or single, some people say that this information might be relevant and useful. Others disagree.

agree
hobbies / interests married / single / marital status personal information
with: It tells a lot on how a person would think or react to certain thing
It is often argued that companies have no right in requiring personal information from a prospective candidate, whilst others disagree and think that having more information about the candidate like how that person fills his free time, and what is his marital status can actually help in hiring a better fit person. As its understood that career experience is whats important only, and personal matters should stay private. However, I believe that knowing about a person interests reveals whether he can adapt to the office environment, and they are needed for a good selection.
While personal matters and interests do not interfere with the actual work much, the place where employers should solely focus at, is the relevant career experience a candidate has. That is the common conception that most people reason it by the fact that they are applying for a specific job to do a certain thing, so they should be questioned only about this thing, and that should be the only deciding thing. Knowing their hobbies or whether they are married or not, is private thing and a candidate might feel awkward and kind of exposed as he is revealing unrelated information about himself.
On the contrary, personal information are very much related to the actual job in many ways. Unlike what has been deceived that revealing too much personal information to the employer is a form of intrusion of privacy. It is in fact how the employer can tell whether a candidate cat interact well with other team memebers, or even whether they can communicate well. Strong team bonds are important to the company success, and often these bonds can be created through a shared interest. Take me for example, I actually got closer to my team members as we all share the interest of scuba diving, and ended up going on many trips. That indeed helped us to acquire effective communication patterns.
Employers may ask about information that are not directly related to the job scope, Even though some see them as unnecessary questions, yet others clearly understands that they are very much needed and not just extras.
