Most major cities around the world continue to grow at a phenomenal rate due to the massive increase in population. This has led to a general decline in the quality of life in city areas as the environment becomes more crowded and polluted. Give some reasons why this growth has occurred and suggest some practical solutions to this problem. Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own experience or knowledge.

Major cities around the world, has overgrown their size. As more than 50% of world’s population reside in a handful of cities, resulting in dense areas acting as negative pressure points, on both earth environmental factors and quality of living. Pollution figures in these cites have skyrocketed, and there effects are vividly visible, ranging from the amount of greenhouse gases emitted, to level of destruction on important pieces of earth natural cycle. This also resulted in poor general health, as the necessary resources needed like air and water are not as clean as before. Apart, from the level of stress introduced in these cramped cities, where people have limited space to live in, and commuting can be a very slow process.

One of the main reasons why this have happened is, most of gevernment allocated funds and planned projects are directed to those major cities only. Having more development in major cities, requires more people. Prompting migration from smaller cities inhabitants in search for those newly opened opportuinities. Decpite still having projects and enhancements plans for sub-urban cities, however none of them seem to be thought of as a long term project. In fact, the irony is that most of these minor cities project are directed to harvest a certain resource! rather than something where its more towards growth of that area.

A solution that can act as an attracting point too, would be making use the fact that most people work remotely now. As most of job roles nowadays requires is a computer and an internet connection, we can somehow maintain the existing business going without the need of physically be near it. Many people will be attracted by this as it will be like the gateway from hecktick lifestyle the city has to a more healthy one.
